Make a global difference to public health

If you aspire to develop innovative ideas and solutions to tackle health inequalities in and across international populations, our online MPH Global Health will equip you with the skills to do so.

You will learn about key contemporary population health issues across countries with different climates, economies, and cultures, and how global health issues are managed through policy, systems, and agencies. On top of this, you will also examine a range of issues affecting health and wellbeing around the world, including trade, work, and healthcare systems, as well as the impact of global poverty, hostilities, and natural disasters.

This MPH Global Health degree is aligned with internationally recognised competency frameworks including the UK Public Health Skill and Knowledge Framework, and the World Health Organisation ASPHER Core Competency Framework for Public Health in the European Region.

Programme Director, Dr Ross Wilkie, is a Senior Lecturer in Public Health and Epidemiology. His research is recognised internationally and Ross was awarded the European League Against Rheumatism Research Award in 2019. He has also been awarded a Fellowship of the Faculty of Public Health by distinction for his education and research work.

Entry requirements for home and international students

A 2:2 undergraduate degree or a UK Master’s degree (or international equivalent)

Applicants with qualifications below this level may be considered if they can provide evidence which demonstrates a minimum of two years’ appropriate work experience. The evidence will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

In addition, applicants must also have passed GCSE Maths (minimum grade C or 4) and pass a numeracy test prior to starting the course

Applicants who do not hold a recognised degree will be asked to provide evidence which demonstrates a minimum of three years’ relevant experience. The evidence will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

English language requirements

Applicants for whom English is not a first language must provide evidence of a recognised qualification in English language. The minimum score for entry to the programme is Academic IELTS 6.0 or equivalent (no subtest score below 5.5).

If you are based in the UK or the EU, you may be eligible for a government postgraduate loan to cover the full course fees.

You pay tuition fees for each module taken, either module-by-module or in full at the start of your course.

If you pay module-by-module, you will pay in instalments of £850.
